A look at the facts we need to face

You can’t change what you don’t know – so we need to take time to figure out the whats and whys “underneath” our habits / default reactions.

Take a look at what you are feeling as you eat, what you are eating, and how it correlates.

  • Are you really hungry?
  • Are you stressed and worried about something and just eating (smoking, shopping,) out of a reaction to something that is bothering you?
  • Is this a bad habit? Grabbing something to munch on while driving, cooking or waiting on someone.
  • What it is you are eating / using to help “fill” these “issues”

Get out your trusted “journal” and keep a log so that it can be “down in writing” what is really going on.  I know this may seem time consuming or trivial – but it is actually very effective and powerful, and will help you address these struggles.

In the next few weeks we will look at “alternatives” of how we react to things in our life, instead of continuing to go down that same path every time.  We will make, again, one change at a time with several options to facilitate that change.

ALSO

As we sort through the “whys” and acknowledge our habits and reactions we can begin with a way to change our mindset, which is very important to gain and maintain success.  How you “see” yourself makes a huge difference in how you choose your actions.

Begin with “affirmations” that you say and keep repeating to yourself until they become true.  It’s kind of like the old “fake it till you make it” which I believe comes from the AA folks or a good counselor over the years,  not for sure which or both, but I do know that as weird as it might sound – it does work when used consistently.

I have 2 that I used and still use, (especially when I am struggling) as examples for you to find something that will “be” / reflect what you want to see happen within and in your life.

  • I now choose to eat only healthy food that my body wants and needs.
  • I love and appreciate my body and all that it is doing for me today.

Blessings as you explore your reasons and choose your “thoughts” for change.  I have no doubt you can face, overcome and make the changes you want.  If I can finally get these to work and stick after 20 years of struggle – I know you can gain long term success as well.  The most important thing to remember is that each day is a new beginning and you can take that down to each hour of our life is an opportunity for a new beginning.  Just get back up and start over – even if it’s the “million-eth” time!  And remember to make it fun!
