It’s Easy to Get Sidetracked

I got totally “sidetracked” from staying on my goal to not have any more interruptions in my blogging post. I got discouraged and went into the mode of “is anyone getting anything out of any of this that I am doing?” It just seemed to be something “out there” that was a dream to do this to help someone and why should I think that anyone would listen to me?

We all hit those spots in our lives where we question what we do and why we do them. Does it matter to anyone else and have we lost our goals and visions to the point it doesn’t make any sense what we are even doing? I know it’s a place we all go from time to time – questioning ourselves and our “value”. The only redeeming factor is that if we feel “led” to do something in particular, then it’s probably God or a message from Him through the Holy Spirit urging us to do what it is we are needing to do to help others. God is seen and felt the most through others, their attitudes, kind thoughts and deeds and how they reach out to touch ours and other’s lives.

One of the basic underlying issues that cause us to turn to “escapes” and means of trying to fill a void in our lives is feeling we are not “good enough” or important to anyone and that we don’t make that much difference in the lives of others.

However, the bottom line and real truth is that everything we do should not be for ourselves or others, it actually should be done for God. He is our father, our provider and the one who really has our best interest at heart. He sees inside us and values who we are and how we feel. He has things each one of us can do to make a difference in this world – even if it’s just greeting another person with a smile to make their day a little better. The way we live our lives can be a witness to someone who is struggling and we may never know they even notice how we act or treat others. Some of the individuals who have had the most influence on me and how I live my life probably never had a clue that I watched them and saw how they responded (not reacted) to issues and struggle in their lives, how they treated people and the decisions they made that were honorable even when they would not get any “credit” for how they lived or who they were. They inspired me to know that if they can do what is right and deal with things in a positive way, then I would like to be more like that and do the same.

So I had this little voice remind me that I didn’t set out to change the world or have a huge following or make a lot of money from doing this blog. I simply had the desire that as I see so many people struggling with their self worth and not knowing how to deal with the bondage that keep them bound, drawn into and controlled by – if I could make a difference in some way to help even one person out there to get free of the chains that kept them from really enjoying their life and gain freedom from the addictions and struggles that God never intended for us to have – then it would be worth doing, even if I never knew or saw the results. I am doing this because I feel like God has given me the help and information to change things in my life and He would like me to share it with others – so I will resume and re-focus on why I am doing this and pray that someone’s life is touched in a special way and they gain the strength and understanding that can free them from the bondage and struggle they are dealing with.

I also believe that maybe someone else can then, in turn, see how important they are to someone else and as they / you make small changes, each individual can and will touch someone’s life as well.

Ask God what you can do for him / how you can make a difference for someone else and see what unfolds for you. In the meantime I will share as much encouragement as I can with ways that I used to help me become free from so many chains that bound me both physically, mentally and emotionally.

Ask God to let you start seeing “you” the way He sees you. Focus on what is good about you and who you are. What makes you unique and different in your own special way? What do you have to give to others?
