We all have days (and weeks) that go sideways on us. When they happen, which inevitably they will, you have to be in the right mindset to not go too sideways on your eating and exercise routines and decisions.
Last week was one of those times for me and I have to admit that one day I had a package of Little Debbie cupcakes as my lunch because some days a girl just needs chocolate to help you get through the day! The important thing is to pass by the box of 10 and just by the package of 2!
I had to go back to my affirmations so I could “talk myself back down off the highwire” from the stress that I was dealing with to keep it from taking over my emotions and my whole life.
I had to keep “reaffirming” that things are going to be o.k. and speak the outcomes that I want to see happen. Such as: I can and will eat only what is good for me. I can and will leave my fears with God and not dwell on the “what ifs” that are negative. I can and will look for the good in all of this and even when I can’t see it clearly, I can trust that good things will come from all of this. And as I explained my to grandson, struggles make you stronger and getting through hard times together will make the bonds and relationships with others grown in a positive way as we all work together instead of pulling apart. Surviving difficulties gives one character and is a good way to learn stamina for endurance along with the challenge to focus on the good and positive in all things instead of the negative.
It was a little “wobbly” at times but I’m back on track (well most of the time) and have things in place that I know to do when my “triggers” hit that make me want to fall back into habits that are not so good or what I want to do anymore.
Throughout the week remember to focus on the positive and good in everything (including yourself!) and if you’re in a place where things are going relatively smooth then focus on creating habits and plans to keep you going through anything that comes your way.
Review or journal to have a “plan” that you can work on daily – those “little” choices that make up to bigger ones that lead to long term results.
Remember to stay light-hearted and find some humor and positives in all things. My 13 year old grandson was putting a “spin” of humor on a situation we were dealing with and gave us some good laughter which is definitely good for the soul! It made it a special time that I will always remember how we turned a struggle into a “funny memory” that will stay with us throughout our lifetimes.
Blessings to all and I know if I can make these changes – so can you! Remember to be kind to and believe in yourself!
