I am Learning to Love My Body

We’re going to review the step is to look at how we “see” our bodies
Do you appreciate and treasure your body?
Would you like to feel good about your body, instead of being aggravated and unhappy with it?

This is one of the most important shifts that we will do to bring change into our lives on every level. This does not only touch us physically, but emotionally as well.

I get so excited when I am working with people in person, and I see them grasp the concepts in this section. It’s as if a switch gets flipped and a light of hope comes into their eyes. It’s a change in how we see ourselves as we look in the mirror. It’s the first step into moving into that part of the title of this program – “I Love My Body”. It’s an amazing place to learn to live in, and I’m excited for you to explore this new avenue of “seeing” you!

Let’s start by throwing out the words diet, struggle, hard, fighting our weight and eating habits, etc. (along with the scales!)

We DON’T need or want another struggle
or task to do!

This is not a temporary thing to get through – Instead we are embracing “moving” into A joyous place to live.

We now approach and see our journey as easy and fun

Your Body is Your Most Precious Gift!

THE GIFT THAT KEEPS ON GIVING

  • Your heart beats 72 times per minute, more than 100,000 times per day.
  • Your heart weighs only 10 ounces, yet each day it pumps 2,000 gallons of blood through 60,000 miles of blood vessels.
  • Your Kidneys completely filter all of your body’s blood about 40 times per day.
  • Each lung consists of more than 300 million microscopic sacs where oxygen and carbon dioxide are exchanged in the blood. Spread out flat a double layer of alveoli and capillaries each would carpet a room 20 to 30 feet wide.
  • Your stomach produces 3 to 4 pints of gastric juice every day.
  • Your eyes register 36,000 images an hour and 864,000 images per day.
  • Your muscles, if they could work together and pull in one direction equal 25 tons of pulling power.
  • All of these processes are done in a body that’s made up of about 50 to 75% water!

When you take a look at just how wonderful and magnificent our bodies are, you can begin to really love your body for the incredible way it functions and works for us.

This body is not just an awesome machine to be used by us, it houses our soul and spirit. I am so grateful for the ability to walk, talk, move and breathe each and every day, and believe that every day on this earth is a special day to celebrate!

When we can shift into really appreciating what an incredible creation we “reside” in, we can truly begin to love our body. And no, we may not be particularly thrilled at what this body of ours looks like on the outside, but when we begin to “see” our body differently, love and embrace it for all it does for us, we will desire to take really good care of our body, and begin to enjoy feeling strong and healthy.

This program is a choice – a choice to make better decisions daily.

A choice to see what an awesome incredible “machine” I live in.

The very fact that I am alive and functioning, and my body gets me around from place to place, is something I will be grateful for daily.

In it I think and feel, love and move – interacting with the world and all those that I love. It is my “vehicle” to let me do all the things I want and need to get done. Without it or if it is not functioning well – where would I be? So just for today – I will love my body and thank it for all the wonderful things it does for me. Begin to really embrace it as my best friend, my partner in this life, the one who is always with me and working for me in such a beautiful way.

Wow, it is such an amazing phenomenon how our body works, repairs itself, moves, breathes and functions on so many levels. When I stop to really think or read about how all the parts of my body work together, and facilitate so many things, I am amazed and so very grateful!

I now choose to begin honoring it for all it does for me and just how wonderful it is.
I will love it, and because I love it, I will choose to begin to take better care of this precious vehicle that my spirit and soul call home.

So in place of our “old” words and thoughts, we are going to speak things such as:
– I now love my body and thank it for all it does for me.
– I now choose only good and healthy things to eat.
– I now have the perfect body size for me.
– I walk and live in great health.
– I will NOT speak negatively about myself or my body.
– I will only speak good and loving thoughts and words.

There is one VERY IMPORTANT idea we need to grasp as we enter our journey. My ideal weight may not be what others perceive it should be and a healthy weight or size may not be what I have in mind either. To be healthy is the key!

As we “settle” into a new pattern of eating, exercising and way of thinking, our body will find where it functions best, and you will find a comfortable weight that “fits” you. I know that may seem a bit “corny”, but there comes a recognizable balance when we become in tune with our body. This may even change during different phases in your life. What works at 30 may not be where we are o.k. to be when we are in our 60’s. So be kind to yourself and allow your body to be the healthiest possible, during each stage of your journey.
